I want to give a shout-out to Marinitas for the great food and excellent service when we recently invited friends to lunch there. We were repeating a family event that first happened at Marinitas ten years ago, to the day. We had a terrific Mexican Chopped Salad, and then our choice of enchiladas vegetarianas, pescado grillado and bistec argentino, all wonderfully prepared and served home style in a way that made us feel at home at an intimate occasion. I'm a first-time customer, and it's been so long since I had such a great experience! The cocktail I had was amazing, and the margarita was fresh and absolutely perfect. I ordered the tacos dorados de pollo, and my plate was clean within minutes. The churros were, without a doubt, the best I've ever had--freshly made, which is rare these days since many places just freeze them. The ambiance was fantastic, and the staff was so friendly!
First visit with the new ownership, the menu and interior are exactly the same. Service was efficient and non-intrusive. We got our usual house margaritas (delicious), and since it was cold outside I got the carnitas entree and my friend got steak tacos. The last time we dined here, it was warm outside so we had ceviche to cool off. The carnitas dish was huge and packed with flavor, very comforting in the winter. We are thankful for the new ownership keeping this San Anselmo staple open. If they add anything new to the menu, we suggest pozole as a cozy winter dish!
I've been here a few times and like this place. It's spacious inside and has a good vibe to it. Great to go with friends or a date. The service was great. When we stepped in the guy at the counter was on the phone. Another worker came quickly and sat us. Our waiter was super nice. I ordered the Enchilada vegetarianas this time. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't to my liking. I wouldn't order it again. I've ordered other items before and they were good. I'd still come back, but I probably won't order this again. The chips and guac are always good. I love the thin tortilla chips. Even though my dish wasn't to my liking, I'd still come back as my previous food experiences were a good one.
